Choosing The Correct LoveMyDog Dog Collar Size

To choose the right dog collar size, please measure your dog’s actual neck and not their existing collar. Each dog differs but as a general guide Jack russells tend to be size medium and Labradors size extra large.

Size small 8-11" length has a width of 1.5cm, size medium 12-15" length has a width of 2cm and size's large 16-19" length and xtra large 20-23" length both have a width of 1".

Our dog collars come in the following sizes, with indication of breed size shown next to them:

Small 8"-11" Chihuahua & Mini Dachshunds

Medium 12"-15" Jack Russell & Pugs

Large 16"-19" Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Extra Large 20"-23" Labradors

Selecting The Right LoveMyDog Dog Coat Size

For the perfect fit, measure the centre panel of your dog's back from the bottom of his neck along the top stopping when you get to the start of the back leg. Have a look at the breed examples below that will help you determine the correct size.

If your dog measurement is an odd number round it down one size.

Our dog coats range from 10" to 16", 10" to 20" and 10" to 24" depending on which style you choose.

Please always take care and caution not to overheat your dog and dress them appropriately according to the temperature.

The Length of The Backbone

Measuring should be done along the dog's backbone from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. This is from the base of where the collar rests to where the tail is attached as shown with the top line measurement on our picture above. However, it's important that the dog's chest girth be taken into account as well as the top line measurement. If the garment is slightly longer or shorter this ok as the dog's overall comfort should not be compromised.

The Broadest Part of The Chest

For chest measurement, measure the chest at its widest point, which is typically right behind the front legs. If the dog has a large girth, going up a size in the top line measurement (the length) is always a smart choice. If the chest is measured too tight, the dog will find it hard to fully expand its chest when breathing.

The Circumference of The Neck

Measuring should be done around the base of the neck with the head of the dog in the upright position. Measure around the widest part of the neck depending on the breed. If the neck is measured too tight, the dog will find it hard to breathe so we recommend you allow approximately one inch (2.5cm) flexibility.
